Summary: Distorted sound in Dyson game Product: Wine Version: 1.1.9 Platform: Other URL: http://www.dyson-game.com OS/Version: other Status: NEW Keywords: download Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: dank@kegel.com
The game Dyson is supposed to have a soothing, spacy soundtrack, but it's full of distortion under Wine.
You need to do 'winetricks mono20' or 'winetricks dotnet20' before installing. The sound distortion is the same in either case.
For comparison, running Dyson on mono natively on Linux sounds much better. (I had to do 'apt-get install libgdiplus libsdl-net1.2 libsdl-gfx1.2-dev libsdl-mixer1.2 libsdl-image1.2 libvorbis0a libpng12-0' before that worked.)

--- Comment #1 from Dan Kegel dank@kegel.com 2008-11-30 18:53:20 --- It doesn't go away even with the latest git and the patch in http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=15559#c44
But it *does* go away if I disable pulseaudio, so I guess this is yet another problem between Wine and Pulseaudio.

Ubuntu 8.04, have not removed pulseaudio, clean prefix, works like a charm - I tested this for the author and gave him the instructions for using winetricks and mono for Linux users.

--- Comment #4 from Anastasius Focht focht@gmx.net 2008-12-19 03:54:58 --- Hello,
can you retest using current GIT (1.1.10+)? There is no distortion (though background music is a bit silent).
For comparison I killed pulseaudio and configured driver manually and there is no difference (on 2.6.27.7-134.fc10.x86_64).

--- Comment #5 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com 2010-06-27 22:24:29 --- Seems that game is now known as 'Eufloria'. However, doesn't run for me in 1.2-rc5. I get an error saying: ** ERROR **: implement type compare for 1b! aborting...

--- Comment #6 from butraxz@gmail.com 2012-05-18 06:06:02 CDT --- This bug has not been updated for two years and OP by four. Is this still an issue i current (1.5.4) or newer wine ? You may also close this as abandoned if you feel that that this is issue is no longer relevant to you.

marking fixed because I already tested years ago (comment #4) and didn't found a problem. OP didn't respond anyway.
