Bug #: 30198 Summary: Diablo 3 fails to install Product: Wine Version: unspecified Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: oneadvent@gmail.com Classification: Unclassified
I am trying to install Diablo 3 PreOrder edition and I can't get it to install, from my very unprofessional standpoint it looks like Agent.exe is crashing which is causing the problem. Attached are the logs from trying to install and then again just running Agent.exe, which is what I believe is crashing.
Let me know if I can do anything to help this process, for instance what I have installed through winetricks that would be good to know.
OH and I tried git of wine, wine1.2, wine1.3, and wine1.4, all on Kubuntu 11.10
Thanks!

--- Comment #3 from Joshua Welch oneadvent@gmail.com 2012-03-17 13:12:32 CDT --- This does not have a repeat of the error "RtlpWaitForCriticalSection" and it is the official installer for the official game not the Beta.
I get more "fixme:process:GetLogicalProcessorInformation (0xcee388,0xcee384): stub err:wininet:open_http_connection create_netconn failed: 10036" over and over again

--- Comment #4 from Joshua Welch oneadvent@gmail.com 2012-03-17 14:17:51 CDT --- Also the other bug was dependent on what version of wine was running, whereas for this one I do not have that same issue. They all do not work.

--- Comment #5 from Henri Verbeet hverbeet@gmail.com 2012-03-17 18:51:51 CDT --- I think the behaviour changed a bit over the course of the beta. I guess the main thing that matters is if the patches attached to that bug help for this one as well or not.

--- Comment #6 from Vitaliy Margolen vitaliy-bugzilla@kievinfo.com 2012-03-17 19:44:13 CDT --- First of all please run the install from a X enabled Unix box. Running it from windows via putty will break things. It does not support X nor can it forward it.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=30198
--- Comment #7 from Joshua Welch oneadvent@gmail.com 2012-03-17 22:22:34 CDT --- The logs are the same from the machine or from x forwarding, as is the results. Would you like me to redo it and attach the logs again?
I just happened to be away from my machine when I was submitting the bug report, but I didn't see a difference.

--- Comment #8 from Vitaliy Margolen vitaliy-bugzilla@kievinfo.com 2012-03-18 10:42:03 CDT --- We need logs from _the_ PC you trying to install game on. No X forwarding of any kind. 3D doesn't work that well over the remote connection.

Hello, sorry it took so long but here is the long (used Konsole) from a local machine. I ran the regular installer then both copies of Agent.exe that it had on my machine.

--- Comment #10 from lyon@pvfree.net 2012-03-26 12:43:47 CDT --- Joshua, you should definitely try the patches from bug 28898. They are effectively fixing the installer/agent problems.
Note: The installer itself is locked up by the way, it will not install anything until Diablo 3 is released (May 15, 2012).

--- Comment #11 from Joshua Welch oneadvent@gmail.com 2012-03-26 21:48:02 CDT --- OK, trying to follow your directions I used http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=39500 and http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=39494
to patch the latest version (1.5) from http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/wine/wine-1.5.0.tar.bz2
No hiccups other than I'm on a 64b computer and it complained about 32b and had to install some extra stuffs for that. (followed the guide here: http://wiki.winehq.org/WineOn64bit#head-245e8f90708da8070a4f3cbe336254c712af...)
Patches appeared to have applied correctly.
The installer now loads up and as stated it simply says it will not install until it is released. I hope this helps those that come after me.

Resolved by patches.
Sorry, a bug can only be marked as fixed when the patches get in the wine tree. Unfortunately by now none of those patches went in AFAIK. One of them [1] is still in the patch queue and I could not find the other one.
Your comment 11 will surely help others having the same issue. For now this bug should be remarked as open.

If the same patches fix both bugs than this can be considered a duplicate since that other bug is older and the patches are there in my opinion =)
