Other programs (not wine) can`t use alsa driver when wine -1.0 using alsa for
audio.
It can be fixed by using Esound driver except alsa.

Strange works fine here. What program(s) can't use ALSA devices while Wine is
running?

i found that if some program is using alsa before i start wine then they
cooperate well. but if wine is first program which access alsa everything else
will be blocked

btw. palmos simulator in wile will block alsa even if it is set to nosound.
with others i didn't checked so i don't know if its wine problem or simulator
problem. but i guess its not important here

Did you change any ALSA settings (in .asoundrc or Wine registry)? Looks like
Wine tries to use hw access aka direct access to the ALSA device. And if you
don't have dmix enabled by default that's what you get.

i am 100% sure i never touched alsa settings anywhere. in fact .asoundrc i
don't have at all. and when i searched wine registry files for alsa i found
only thats its set as driver for audio

for me with wine 1.1.11 and mplayer it now works. since my comments i updated
also mplayer so i can't tell which program actually got fixed, but now they
seem to cooperate well
