Summary: voipdiscount client:Call to unimplemented function dnsapi:dns_map_options option DNS_QUERY_RETURN_MESSAGE Product: Wine Version: 1.1.2 Platform: All URL: http://www.voipdiscount.com OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: jose.horas@gmail.com
Created an attachment (id=15086) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=15086) terminal output
voipdiscount allows to make free calls to other countries. It works much better in the last versions of wine, but still it cannot connect, probably because of this call to dnsapi.

That fixme is probably harmless. Please provide steps to reproduce the problem.
You can reproduce the problem downloading the program free from the web page (http://www.voipdiscount.com), installing it under wine and running it. You don't need to override any library (which is an improvement with respect to older versions of wine). The program will ask you to log on as new user, which is easy, and try to connect, but it will never do it :( I am not sure if this fixme is the reason. But I would say that the other fixme about shdocvw and mshtml are related to internet explorer, used on an advertisement window in the program, and not to the connection with the server (I've seen them in other programs that try to use IE)

--- Comment #3 from Hans Leidekker hans@it.vu.nl 2008-07-27 09:54:28 --- I played with this app for a bit and it looks as if DNS is flaky for voipdiscount.com. Please try with this line added to your /etc/hosts file:
194.120.0.223 client.voipdiscount.com
Does that change anything?

No, unfortunately it doesn't change anything. Even after restarting. :( Thanks anyway for the try.

--- Comment #5 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com 2009-01-27 14:03:30 --- Is this still an issue in current (1.1.13 or newer) wine?
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=14656
--- Comment #6 from Jose jose.horas@gmail.com 2009-02-03 10:54:17 --- Yes, in wine 1.1.13 Voipdiscount still can not connect.

--- Comment #7 from Jose jose.horas@gmail.com 2009-02-19 15:34:08 --- Created an attachment (id=19567) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=19567) terminal output between connect and error message
Under wine 1.1.15 voipdiscount can not connect, but now it realizes that it can not connect and gives an error message, instead of waiting to connect for ages as before. That allows to see what part of the terminal output is between the order of connect and the error message. These fixmes should be the ones related to the bug. After these fixmes appear the program gives "Connection failure, unable to get a valid server address" and go on waiting.

--- Comment #8 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com 2009-02-19 17:15:00 --- Try native wininet and/or dnsapi.
