From my experience shaders above version 1.x don't work in TM under wine at
all.
You can easily spot the difference by comparing the menu background: under windows with SM > 2.0 the globe has a visible relief (bump mapping or whatever), but under wine it stays bald and smooth as if SM 1.0 was used. Moreover, anti-aliasing and other extra video features don't seem to work, too.
I will probably file a bug report later.

--- Comment #3 from Lauri Niskanen ape3000@gmail.com 2009-05-09 00:12:56 --- This seems to be working on 1.1.21, if you use PC3 shaders. With PC2 it doesn't change anything. Should it also work with PC2? (could you test on native Windows)

--- Comment #7 from Lauri Niskanen ape@ape3000.com 2009-07-04 12:58:59 --- It works with Wine 1.1.25 on my Ubuntu. There is minor graphical glitches with textures (they blink white sometimes), but the motion blur generally works.

It works with Wine 1.1.25 on my Ubuntu.
I really like to see motion blur working on my rig.
Any idea in what direction to search for differences between these two machines? Anyone?

--- Comment #9 from joaopa jeremielapuree@yahoo.fr 2009-07-05 06:32:37 --- You have surely a graphic with bad driver (intel graphic card or ATI)

--- Comment #10 from Sascha henkelx@web.de 2009-07-05 10:14:31 --- Not really. I've got an NVIDIA GeForce GT 140.

--- Comment #11 from Sascha henkelx@web.de 2009-07-09 16:00:47 --- Just a quick update:
Motion blur does work now after having replaced the GT 140 by an GTX 260. With this card I can confirm the minor graphical glitches as reported in comment #7.
Now it's only bug 19080 (http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=19080) keeping TMNF/TMUF from being a perfect game on Wine...

--- Comment #12 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com 2010-05-19 16:45:52 --- This is your friendly reminder that there has been no bug activity for 6 months. Is this still an issue in current (1.1.44 or newer) wine?
