I tried many versions since 0.9.49, but it looks like MT4 never worked correctly.

Hello Focht, reopening. You are probably using a diferent version (compare comment #0 with your screenshot - for example the "New" icon with green plus sign). Reported MT Version v4.00.225, build date 2009-07-10.
Still present in Wine 1.7.28.
