Summary: Paradox 11: Unhandled exception on Applicaation Launch Product: Wine Version: 1.0.0 Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: pbronline-wine@yahoo.co.uk
Created an attachment (id=14711) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=14711) Backtrace of Unhandled Exception
Attempt to start Paradox 11 gives a splash screen followed by an Unhandled Exception due to an access to 0x00000000 in pxsrv32. Backtrace attached.
This occurs with Paradox 11 installed from CD with WordPerfect Office 11 (2003) and WordPerfect Office X3 (2005).
The Wine configuration does not specify any native dll overrides but wsh56 was installed in order to facility the installation of the application, which appears to make heavy use of mfc42.dll.

--- Comment #1 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com 2009-01-21 11:01:45 --- Is this still an issue in current (1.1.13 or newer) wine?

--- Comment #2 from Forester pbronline-wine@yahoo.co.uk 2009-01-26 13:26:33 --- This is still very much an issue in Wine 1.1.3.
There is a workaround - delete all copies of PDX_EN_FULL_bars.cfg (the Toolbar Configuration File) before starting the Paradox. Do not confuse this file with PDX_EN_FULL_sbar.cfg (the Statusbar Configuration File). The former is toxic under Wine, the latter benign.
This workaround is effective only for later versions of Paradox 11 (such as the one shipped with Word Perfect Office X3). It does not work with earlier versions (such as the one shipped with Word Perfect Office 11). The earlier versions complain about the absence of the Toolbar Configuration File.
The configuration file is not a text file in the usual sense and contains no gratuitous \r\n sequences so I doubt the fixes for Python regression tests will make any difference but I will check anyway.
Any suggestions as to how to investigate this bug further would be appreciated.
