Bug ID: 56519 Summary: Unable to start chess engine in ChessBase 17 Product: Wine Version: 9.5 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: dav75uk@yahoo.co.uk Distribution: ---
When trying to start a chess engine (or perform any chess engine features), nothing happens/hangs with an error: 018c:err:rundll32:wWinMain Unable to find the entry point L"Engine32" in L"Engine32.dll"
When installing the original (via workaround) on Windows it was installed as 64 bit, as the installed dll mentions 32, perhaps this is something to do with the problem.

Is there a demo/download available?

--- Comment #2 from David dav75uk@yahoo.co.uk --- Unfortunately they don't do a demo or a free version, nor are interested in working with wine (as they believe it will lead to a support burden).
ChessBase Reader 17 which was developed 5 years prior doesn't suffer from the same problem either.
It could be an installation issue, which is why getting the problem with the install key fixed is probably a higher priority, as perhaps a local install rather than a copy from a windows install might fix the problem.
Happy to arrange a zoom call with a developer to run through some tests or try out stuff to help diagnose the issue.
