Summary: GTA San Andreas Second Edition will not run Product: Wine Version: 1.1.29 Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: carlton.hobbs@gmail.com
I'm not sure of the difference between the original San Andreas (which I lost) and the Second Edition (which I just bought), but the original worked well under wine, the Second won't run at all.
My guess is related to the fixme also included in the attachment:
fixme:ntdll:server_ioctl_file Unsupported ioctl 2d0c04 (device=2d access=0 func=301 method=0)

I've run wine that way too with exactly the same terminal output.

Thanks, is it a copy protection issue then? Does using a no-cd workaround the crash?

Hi, as i just filled in bug 20935, "server_ioctl_file Unsupported ioctl 2d0c04" comes from SecuROM (for particular case - Heroes 5 SecuROM v7.27.0014).

--- Comment #8 from guildenstern1980-sourceforge@yahoo.de 2010-01-05 18:50:43 --- I agree that 21250 was a duplicate. I found no nocd for 2.x. After downgrading SanAndreas to 1.5 (nocd) the game runs.

I agree that 21250 was a duplicate. I found no nocd for 2.x. After downgrading SanAndreas to 1.5 (nocd) the game runs.
Thus this is duplicate of bug 7065.
This is SecuROM's recognition sign:
fixme:ntdll:server_ioctl_file Unsupported ioctl 2d1400 (device=2d access=0 func=500 method=0)
fixme:ntdll:server_ioctl_file Unsupported ioctl 2d0c04 (device=2d access=0 func=301 method=0)
<-- for example these two come from SecuROM v7.33.0004

--- quote --- $ wine /home/ch1/.wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/Rockstar\ Games/GTA\ San\ Andreas/gta_sa.exe fixme:ntdll:server_ioctl_file Unsupported ioctl 2d0c04 (device=2d access=0 func=301 method=0) wine: Unhandled page fault on read access to 0x00000000 at address 0x1156ba3 (thread 0009), starting debugger... --- quote ---
just mark this bug a dupe of 20935 because I put the info to work around this 7.2x.xxxx SecuROM deficiency there (poor handling of ioctl 2d0c04).
--- quote --- Thus this is duplicate of bug 7065. --- quote ---
Bug 7065 is a meta bug that simply lived too long. It should have died a long time ago after I worked out PEB/process flags and heap flags (and MountedDevices registry hive) as major blockers.
