Microsoft Visual C++ 6 is working to a large extent.

When a program is compiled in DEBUG mode and violates
an assertion (in WTL), the MSVC on Windows will give the
user the choice to press "Retry" and start a debugger.

On Wine, a debugger is not started, or at least the
MSDEV-Studio doesn't show the Debug menu.

Please attach terminal output. Wine by default uses 'winedbg' as jit-debuger.
And so far it always starts at least.
