In X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter, entering a mission pops up a box with the error
"Direct Input Create FAILED" and no inputs are recognized. (The game requires a
joystick, which I have confirmed is on /dev/input/js0) Neither keys nor
joystick inputs are recognized, except the space bar key which seems to move
the game clock along. This is a regression in 1.3.26, since in the current
stable version of Wine (1.2.3) the game runs without flaw.

I forgot to mention: I am running Ubuntu 11.04 (with Unity) on an Acer Timeline
3810TZ with Core 2 Solo running at 1.3 GHz and integrated Intel graphics.
