Tried getting log file and backtrace with the commands in the FAQ, but each time the log file was 0 bytes. Used these commands:
$ wine ./Sonos.exe &>log.txt
$ WINEDEBUG=+relay,+seh,+tid $ wine ./Sonos.exe >> log.txt 2>&1
What gives?

Hey, I experienced this error and landed on this bug. I first grabbed the wine 1.7.6 installation from the wine PPA using:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-wine/ppa sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install wine1.7 wine1.7-i386
Then, I re-ran the Sonos installer and selected the "repair" option inside its InstallShield. The attached file was captured using:
script /tmp/sonos-error.txt -c 'wine "C:\Program Files (x86)\Sonos\Sonos.exe"'

--- Comment #8 from Anastasius Focht focht@gmx.net 2013-12-08 12:35:51 CST --- Hello folks,
can't reproduce this. The app installs and starts fine. Upon start it scans for Sonos components in network. I don't have any Sonos equipment so this obviously fails.
Prerequisite: .NET Framework 4.0
Either use recent Wine 1.7.8 with Mono 4.5 or 'winetricks -q dotnet40'.

--- Comment #9 from gaurav gaurav_verma22@yahoo.com --- I used the stable release 1.6 of wine and installed the .NET framework 4.0 using $ winetricks -q dotnet40 command (didn't know about this!!). Then the installation of SonosDesktopController42.exe using wine went fine, but the launch aborts with "unable to load pcdcr.dll. please reinstall". re-installation and logout doesn't help.
