Bug ID: 39524 Summary: Sound driver: (none) Product: Wine Version: 1.7.53 Hardware: x86 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: winealsa.drv Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: pjmnoble@mac.com Distribution: ---
Newly compiled from source on Tango-studio linux (ubuntu derivative) winecfg says selected Driver: (None) under audio tab I need alsa driver to load to access hardware (running Sibelius 7). setting sound=alsa on winetricks does not solve the problem.

--- Comment #1 from Nikolay Sivov bunglehead@gmail.com --- Make sure you have alsa dev package installed when you build Wine. 'configure' will tell you if it's missing.

--- Comment #2 from winetest@luukku.com --- configure: OSS sound system found but too old (OSSv4 needed), OSS won't be supported.
configure: WARNING: No sound system was found. Windows applications will be silent.
I have the same problem. I dont remember this being an issue before, but I had another disto at the time.

--- Comment #3 from winetest@luukku.com --- This bug is suddenly fixed for me. I have no idea what could have fixed it. I have tried to install different audio files, 32bit libraries. I am still missing pulseaudio support but I now suddenly have winealsa working.

--- Comment #4 from Bruno Jesus 00cpxxx@gmail.com --- Is this still an issue in Wine 2.0 (or later)?

--- Comment #5 from winetest@luukku.com --- (In reply to Bruno Jesus from comment #4)
Is this still an issue in Wine 2.0 (or later)?
Most likely yes. For example mint 18 revison 1 or 2 what I am using is lacking lots of development files by default. And wine compiles without any audio. Not even a compiler to compile wine is installed by default.

Missing libraries is a user problem, not a wine bug.

Resolving invalid then.
