Bug ID: 50011 Summary: ElsterFormular crashes with opensuse 15.2 after updates at first click Product: Wine Version: unspecified Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: critical Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: wdm-lin@gmx.net Distribution: ---
Created attachment 68427 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=68427 error_log
using opensuse leap 15.2
the german Tax-Software Elster crashes about 10 seconds after starting, when any click on any item is made.
This happens with all wine-Versions and all Elster-Versions.
If you install a fresh Opensuse leap 15.2, the Elster-app runs without any problems, when you run die actual updates, Elster fails. A rollback of the Kernel is without effect.
Before, Elster run without any problems for many years, using os leap 15.0 oder 15.1, the app still runs.

--- Comment #1 from joaopa jeremielapuree@yahoo.fr --- PlayonLinux is not supported here. Please use a fresh wine prefix to report a bug. And specify the wine version you used.
Always report against vanilla wine (the lastest one is wine-5.19)
If it is a regression, please do a regression test: https://wiki.winehq.org/Regression_Testing

--- Comment #3 from Joerg Schiermeier mywine@schiermeier-it.de --- The German tax authority dropped the support for the Elster Formular. They now only accept online tax declarations. The Elster Formular reached its "end of life". (See: https://www.elster.de/eportal/infoseite/elsterformular in German). It is still available but its use is now completely senseless.
So please set this bug to another status that might match better than "unconfirmed".

--- Comment #4 from Zeb Figura z.figura12@gmail.com --- If it's still possible to reproduce the bug it can be left open (although the uselessness of the software does reduce its importance somewhat, not that it should ever have been set at "critical"). Otherwise it should be closed as ABANDONED.

If it's still possible to reproduce the bug it can be left open (although the uselessness of the software does reduce its importance somewhat, not that it should ever have been set at "critical").
In general, you are completely right. It is about giving wine its full functionality.
But there are some practical problems: -You will not find a "serious" download location for this software anymore or anywhere. The tax office deleted the download URLs. -The interface which was able to deal with your tax data was switched off in 2020. -Nowadays the official tax office web page can manage old(er) tax declaration files from a users archive itself
Otherwise it should be closed as ABANDONED.
Good idea. If necessary this bug could be reopended.

Sure. At this point it's mostly about whether anyone has a copy of the software who can retest it.

--- Comment #7 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com --- If support ended, did they also cut off the ability to update the software?
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=50011
--- Comment #8 from Joerg Schiermeier mywine@schiermeier-it.de --- Sorry Austin: I was wrong.
This software still exists and is offered from its official download location here: https://www.elster.de/eportal/infoseite/download_elsterformular There are three versions: -a small one for personal tax declarations -a medium installation for small businesses and self-employed taxpayers -a complete installation with all forms for any kind of company
The update connection is still working. And also the interface connector for uploading the tax data should work.
