Summary: Holding spacebar to use hand tool in Photoshop CS2 causes significant lag Product: Wine Version: 20050930 Platform: PC-x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: minor Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: DeathKnight5@comcast.net
When running Photoshop CS2, holding the 'spacebar' key to temporarily switch to the hand tool and trying to use it to pan around an image while having a different tool selected will cause Photoshop CS2 to lag significantly. Using the hand tool regularly by selecting it from the toolbar will work properly, though.

--- Comment #2 from Eric Carter login@greenstorm.net 2008-11-27 12:30:18 --- I'm pretty sure CS2 didn't work before ~9.54 (http://blogs.adobe.com/jnack/2008/02/wine_offers_imp.html), and the bug report offers versions down to .9, so my guess is that his version of wine is listed wrong.
I tired reproducing this in wine 1.1.8 with no luck. I use the spacebar movement often and I haven't noticed it before on 1.1.3 thru 1.1.8, although I could have missed it. I'm running Compiz and Gnome on Ubuntu Ibex, although I used to be running Hardy Heron.
If I had to guess, I'd say that the reporter's issue is probably related to bug #15242 ( http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=15242 ), although that's an end user guess, not from someone who actually knows the code.

--- Comment #3 from Petr kisstherail@gmail.com 2009-04-10 17:27:52 --- Hm, I'm running Wine 1.1.18 on Ubuntu 8.04 + Compiz and having the same problem. Once you press the spacebar in order to quick-use the hand tool, you can't switch to ohter instrument. You can select any instrument from the toolbox pallete, but it doesn't matter - the mouse pointer is still "hand tool" and it's functioning as a "hand tool", not the one you selected. P.S.: Before Wine I tried Photoshop CS3 on VirtualBox, met the same problem, then tried Cs4 and Cs2 (aslo in VirtualBox) - same problem. Then I decided to try Wine - and also get same problem...

--- Comment #4 from Petr kisstherail@gmail.com 2009-04-10 17:32:28 --- Just solved the problem. Simply the program called "gxneur" (like Punto Switcher in MS Windows) caused the problem. Removing it solved the bug.
