Summary: Spore: "ERROR: Graphics Card is below min spec, The game will not run" Product: Wine Version: 1.1.5 Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: directx-d3d AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: someprogr@yahoo.com
Trying to run spore with Wine 1.1.5 and NVIDIA 6800 Go... Tried latest and BETA graphics driver.
When starting the game (with or without safemode) The following dialog pops up preventing me from playing:
"Sorry, your graphics card is below our min spec. The game will not run. Please see the README for details. [2001]"
My card is fully capable of playing the game, and it works more than fine in Windows on the same machine (dual boot)

Also enable GLSL. Or is this impossible?

--- Comment #10 from someprogr someprogr@yahoo.com 2008-10-01 13:25:52 --- I enabled PixelShader and GLSL (I orginally disabled them to see if that would fix it, forgot to change it back...) but still no luck.

Could you attach a +d3d log with wine default configuration (GLSL and pixel shader enabled)?
Thanks! I actually went ahead and changed both GLSL and pixel shader to "enabled" in user.reg and it worked.. Odd, because before I could have sworn I tried it with both of them enabled. Thanks for everything.

--- Comment #16 from Paulino Calderon paulino.calderon@gmail.com 2008-10-18 17:13:01 --- I'm having the same problem with a: 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 0c)
Pixel shader is enabled, and I've tried running it with and without the -safe option. I've also tried to set the VideoMemorySize in HKCU with no luck. Do I need to open a new ticket?

--- Comment #17 from Aaron Lebahn cplusplus328@gmail.com 2009-05-27 12:40:52 --- I am having this same issue on a Radon Card. I am sure I have pixel shader enabled. The card is a Rad eon X1650. I am requesting that this bug be reopened. I am running ubuntu 9.04 64-bit. Here is my output from glxinfo | grep renderer:
direct rendering: Yes OpenGL renderer string: Mesa DRI R300 20060815 TCL
Also, The notification only appears when the game is run from a menu. Attempting to start Spore from a terminal results in the following:
WINEDEBUG=+d3d wine "C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\SPORE\Sporebin\SporeApp.exe" -locale:en-us -safe trace:d3d:DllMain WineD3D DLLMain Reason=1 trace:d3d:wined3d_init Allow pixel shaders trace:d3d:wined3d_init Allow HW vertex shaders trace:d3d:wined3d_init If supported by your system, GL Shading Language will be used fixme:thread:SetThreadIdealProcessor (0x80): stub fixme:thread:SetThreadIdealProcessor (0x88): stub
At which point nothing further happens.
I will gladly supply more information as needed.

That's ancient drivers. Submit bugs to xorg/your distro.
