Summary: Windows canvas aren't drawn with 3D desktops Product: Wine Version: 0.9.44. Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: major Priority: P2 Component: wine-gui AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: ema.oriani@gmail.com
Hello, as subject when I use Beryl and/or Compiz as default window manager and I run any Win32 application with Wine, the canvas of application's main wnidow aren't shown. If I use Metacity (2D desktop) window's canvas are properly drawn. If I switch to Beryl/Compiz from Metacity the canvas of already running Wine windows are properly shown, while new Wine applications not.
So is not possible to use any Wine application with 3D desktop enabled. This never happened before.
Tested with World of Warcraft and eMule.
Thanks, Ema.

As I already wrote Wine apps work without 3D Desktop, but I wanted to report this strange behavior since with older versions I never had this issue.

Ok I'll post the screenshot (that's basically the app runing without the canvas). Btw, I went back to wine 0.9.43 and the bug didn't appear again.
Thanks, Ema.

--- Comment #5 from Lei Zhang thestig@google.com 2007-08-30 10:40:36 --- so you are saying, without changing any other system software / settings, Wine 0.9.43 works but 0.9.44 doesn't?

Yes indeed. Think that every time I reinstall wine I delete the .wine directory too.

Why not? Note that your bug will be closed as abandoned if you don't do the test.

I'm sorry I really can't: abandon it. Btw I've regressed to 0.9.43 and everything works perfectly.
