Summary: Morrowind: Changing controls not possible Product: Wine Version: 1.1.2 Platform: PC-x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: liquid.acid@gmx.net CC: vitaliy@kievinfo.com
Tested this with TSE3: Morrowind version 1.2.0722.
When trying to change a control in the in-game menu (there is not other menu, apart from editing the registry which is impossible without knowing how scancodes/? are encoded there) the game sort of locks up.
The game doesn't recognize any keypresses and simply stops responding. Also it doesn't update the key-action binding...
Makes it impossible to use anything else than the standard keyb config.
Since I dunno if the game uses dinput I left the component to unknown, but I'm adding Vitaliy so he can take a look (hope you don't mind, eh?)
Any traces I can generate?
Greets, Tobias

That's all I get in the terminal. Nothing related about input in the last lines I think.
dinput is once mentioned, is this enough to verify that the game is using it?

--- Comment #4 from Vitaliy Margolen vitaliy@kievinfo.com 2008-07-25 15:08:08 --- Virtual desktop? Does it work with native dinput?
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=14632
--- Comment #5 from Tobias Jakobi liquid.acid@gmx.net 2008-07-25 16:03:58 --- I tried it both with vdesktop on and off, doesn't make any difference. I could try it without the xfce in the background (simple startx session).
Going to try native dinput later.

Anyway, isn't this a duplicate of bug 8854, just like bug 8144?

--- Comment #7 from Tobias Jakobi liquid.acid@gmx.net 2008-07-25 17:58:50 --- With native dinput, dinput8 I have the same problem. Furthermore the mouse cursor now escapes from the window. It didn't do this before.

Yeah, looks like it, I'm going to close this one. Probably someone should edit the description of bug 8854, and add Morrowind to it.
Also like pointed out in #8854 it's not really a hang of the application. @Vitaliy: Could you edit that?
