when trying to set properties of a cell, excel.exe crashes.

Reproduce:
Open a xls file,

Click the Format menu;
Click the Format Cells item

nothing happens, then crashes.

Office 2007 Chinese Simplified version with sp3.

By "Format menu" do you mean the menu that pops up when you right-click a cell,
or the Format item in the Cells section of the Home tab on the ribbon? The
latter does not have a "Format Cells" item in the menu it drops down.

Not an issue in the English version; adjusting summary to reflect version of
Office affected.

Both will crash.

Since I am using Chinese version, the English name may not be "Format Cells",
maybe "Set Cell Properties"?

Yes, maybe just the problem of  Chinese version.
