short freezes for 1-2 seconds on gates, and before warp
It semms to load some data and freezes for a short time.
On Windows it was better.

Not at all reproducible for me on ArchLinux, wine-1.7.34.

My hardware's pretty old too (GeForce 8800GTX, so it's not even a matter of
having the latest specs either).

Wine version and Linux distribution would help.

This is completely normal behaviour for Eve.  Has happened since day dot afaik.
 However, it may be more pronounced under Wine than Windoze, but not having a
Windoze install I can't say for sure.

Try turning off then back on the Tactical Overlay when it gets bad.
