It seems to be impossible to load WMA files with wine. All game using these
won't get music and/or sound effect.

Well first of all, have you tried installing wmp? Wine does not and won't play
wma files itself. If not, then this bug is invalid.

Windows Media Player is unable to play WMA files with plain Wine.  I suspect
this is a problem with its installer, so changing this bug to depend on that. 
But the thing is that newer Windows versions are able to play WMA files out of
the box, because they ship with Windows Media Player.

Maybe it SHOULD be able to play music file by installing Windows Media Player.
Check www.oldversion.com and grab wmp64.exe

If I'm correct, WMA and WMV codecs shipped with 0.9.53. In that case this
should be fixed now.

Umm, I don't think so. Where did you get that idea? People just started talking

Well, I misunderstood what Alexander Nicolaysen Sørnes said in the comments
for the bug 10303, http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1886#c29. In any case
that comment of his means WMA and WMV should be playable in WMP 9 now.

The installer for WMP 9 still has minor bugs, but can be installed and used
already, as he says. So also this bug gets fixed for that part once the
installer gets fixed, and will only concern plain Wine cases when those codecs
are not available.

The problem is that newer Windows versions like XP and Vista have support for
WMA/WMV out of the box.

It was fixed. WMA works now without any patches. Please, close this.
