Bug ID: 42877 Summary: SumatraPDF 3.1.2 tabs are covered by wine title bar Product: Wine Version: 2.6 Hardware: x86 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: ericbasil.rabi@gmail.com Distribution: ---
The SumatraPDF 3.1.2 has tabs and menu button at the top of the window. These are partially covered by the wine title bar when not in full screen. When in full screen, the tabs and the menu button are almost complete covered. This makes accessing the menu and closing tabs impossible in full screen. I use ubuntu 16.04.

--- Comment #1 from winetest@luukku.com --- Does this program have a free trial/demo if yes please link it here. Also screenshot of the issue could be good. Also the most important thing would add a log. Staring the program from console and copying the console output here as attachment. It could indicate the problem. The easier the bug analyze is for developers the faster the patch comes...

https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=42877
--- Comment #3 from Basil Eric Rabi ericbasil.rabi@gmail.com --- This software can be downloaded from https://www.sumatrapdfreader.org/dl/SumatraPDF-3.1.2-install.exe I found a work around by unchecking 'Allow the window manager to decorate the window' in Graphics tab by running 'WINEPREFIX=~/.wine winecfg' in terminal. This removes the wine title bar. It seems that the default wineprefix using winecfg in my machine is prefix32, not .wine. The tabs seem to be malfunctioning when multiple files are open. The other tabs can't be clicked using the mouse. Only the first tab can be clicked. Also, the window cannot be dragged using the menu bar when multiple tabs are present. This was already reported in https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=38823 using a lower version of SumatraPDF and wine.

--- Comment #5 from winetest@luukku.com --- I can confirm the issue.
Not clean prefix. When the installer has focus I needed to press enter 2 times. The installer is lacking some buttons or something.
issue is valid against wine 2.6 and staging 2.6.
I didn't try the workaround.

Issue is still present in 2.11.
The Wine Staging product should only be used for Wine Staging specific regressions. According to comment 5 the issue is also present in the development branch.

What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- CC| |ed7-aspire4925@hotmail.com
--- Comment #15 from ed7-aspire4925@hotmail.com --- I'm with Wine 4.0 (Debian 4.0-2) and have confirmed the issue. A workaround is to disable them, but I think people would prefer having those tabs enabled anyways.
I noticed that the hit points for subsequent tabs are misplaced; moving my mouse cursor to a tab highlights another tab, and there seems to be no pattern I can come up with. Note that the first tab is unaffected, so I don't think the title bar are causing this issue.
I'll see if I can look into the problem any further. Just disable tabs for now.

--- Comment #17 from winehq@atypical.net --- A workaround for this problem now exists:
winetricks gdiplus
followed by
winecfg
create a profile for the application, then select Grahics > (uncheck) Allow the window manager to control the windows
Tabs work 100%.

--- Comment #18 from Jeff Smith whydoubt@gmail.com --- The problem with hit points has been fixed in Wine, and so 'winetricks gdiplus' is no longer necessary. However, the adjustments in winecfg are still needed to correct the title bar issue.
