--- Comment #2 from PJBrs pjbeers@xs4all.nl --- I can confirm this bug (see attachment). Additionally, some areas are rendered with blue borders, and the background of the menu bar is rendered dark blue, which should be white.
I installed with winetricks / overrides for msxml6, msftedit, riched20 and riched32 (no override for the latter). Also, I added the Direct3D registry key for MaxOpenGl (30002).

--- Comment #3 from Nikolay Sivov bunglehead@gmail.com --- What wine version is that?

--- Comment #4 from PJBrs pjbeers@xs4all.nl --- wine 3.0. I got the wine package for Slackware from your website (Slackware 14.2). I'm on a multilib 64-bit OS. I'm using a ThinkPad T420s. It has a Sandy Bridge CPU (Core i5-2520M with Intel HD Graphics 3000). I'm on mesa-11.2.2, and glxinfo reports OpenGl 3.3 Core Profile support. I'm using a KDE desktop.
I'm not familiar with how to collect traces from wine, but, if necessary, I can run powerpoint from the commandline to collect any info form the terminal. Furthermore, I think I'd be able to build wine from sources if you need me to test a patch. Just let me know how I can help.

--- Comment #6 from PJBrs pjbeers@xs4all.nl --- I just let wine run powerpoint from the command line to collect some messages from stdout. The following four messages keep repeating a lot and seemed video-related:
0106:fixme:d3d:wined3d_buffer_create Ignoring access flags (pool). 0106:fixme:d3d11:d3d10_device_RSSetViewports Multiple viewports not implemented. 0106:fixme:d3d11:d3d10_device_RSSetScissorRects Multiple scissor rects not implemented. 0106:fixme:d2d:d2d_d3d_render_target_DrawGeometry Ignoring stroke style 0x19852b60.
Anything to go on in these?

--- Comment #7 from PJBrs pjbeers@xs4all.nl --- One further comment - I changed a bit of the Xorg config of the intel driver (I disabled the TearFree option of the intel driver) and I've noticed the issue much much less. All menus now look normal, and I see only one or two black squares where, in powerpoint, the slide thumbnails should be. This suggests that the issue might be purely within Xorg, or in the relation between wine and Xorg right? (I'm not much hindered by real knowledge about all this, by the way.)
