Bug #: 30539 Summary: MTA:SA 1.3 will not start Product: Wine Version: 1.4 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: evel_masta@hotmail.com Classification: Unclassified
Created attachment 39947 --> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=39947 An error seen in Terminal when trying to run MTA 1.3 through Wine 1.4
Multi Theft Auto: San Andreas 1.3 will install, but not start under Wine 1.4. I have submitted details to the AppDB, but will copy them here for the time being.
The game will install, but when starting, a grey box appears, then it disappears and the game does not start. The following solutions have been tried:
-Installing DirectX files through Winetricks (No d3d9.dll in the SA folder however) -Installing allfonts through Winetricks -Running MTADiag (Through Wine, it updated MTA) -Deleting the gta_sa.set -Installing C++ 2010, 2008, and 2005 through Winetricks (However, I got an error at the end of one of their installations saying that a .dll file was not found) -Running Wine in Windows XP, Vista and 7 mode, as well as Virtual Desktop mode
If it helps, these are my specs:
CPU: Intel i7 2600K (Overclocked @ 4.2GHz) GFX: NVIDIA GTX 560 Ti 1GB Motherboard: MSI Z68A-GD55 (B3) RAM: 8GB DDR3
I have attached an error that I see in Terminal when trying to run "wine MultiTheftAuto.exe" in the MTA folder.

--- Comment #1 from Nikita n.nedvetskiy@gmail.com 2012-04-29 04:18:04 CDT --- Almost the same. Wanted to add, that singleplayer works well. Also tried Wine 1.5.2 both 64-bit and 32-bit editions. http://forum.mtasa.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=42765 Created the topic on official MTA forum, but still no effect.

12.04 is more broken than usual, any chance this is a duplicate of https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/wine1.4/+bug/978678 ?

--- Comment #4 from Nikita n.nedvetskiy@gmail.com 2012-05-03 10:41:20 CDT --- I'm not really good with all these error codes and stuff, but I read about that ptrace thing they were talking about in the bug discussion (http://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/gutsy/man2/ptrace.2.html) and remembered that MTA hooks gta_sa.exe process, so... That might be it, but I'm still not sure. In the bug discussuion on MTA bugtracker we found out that it's either ubuntu 12.04 specific problem or the problem of 'official' wine package for it. Because guys who use Debian and other Linuxes have no issues, it's all like it was before.
