Error Message printed to the console

When I copy and paste inside the program, it crashes.
It happens also when pasting from outside the program but I'm not sure on the
scenario - it's not consistent.
The same exact happens with Beyond Compare.

This happens to me since version 1.7.2

I was able to reproduce this issue with Beyond Compare.  I have submitted a
patch which I believe should fix it.

In 1.7.5 bug seems to be fixed.

There are some weird issues with copy & paste but I think they happened in the
past too...

I'll open a separate bug for that.
