pokemon: dawn of darkness, black window error log

After one of the recent updates to the game, wine can no longer render or
display the game, and an error log(attached to this report) is shown by wine.
Once the wine error log is closed the game window just stays black and a small
error message appears on top of it, however the game's  music keeps playing.

Can you upgrade your wine 1.8, 1.9 or 2.0 series? Wine-staging 1.9 series is
fine too.

It's even worse than before, now the instalaer doesn't exit cleanly and the
game crashes when starting up, the game window that shows up it's still all
black without GUI, background image and so on.
Belive it or not this game used to run fine under wine.
