Steps to reproduce:

1. Set screen resolution in winecfg to 800x600
2. Use a native d3dx9_36
3. Run tech demo and set screen resolution to 1024x768
4. You should get the result as on screenshot

One more step is to disable 'Enable geometry deformations (use vertex texture
fetch technology)' option.

Does the bug still occur vanilla with wine-7.10?

For me, it looks like the problem is not here.
