Summary: Starfleet Command graphics distorted (lacking transparency) Product: Wine Version: unspecified Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: chris@chrobis.com
Created an attachment (id=22607) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=22607) Screenshot of graphics glitch
When playing the game Starfleet Command (either the full game or the demo), the graphics of items needing transparency (torpedoes, in-game menu, explosions etc) have permanent black squares around them, as though lacking transparency.
In particular, if the player's ship flies "inside" of one of these squares (such as towards an explosion), the ship turns completely blue against the black square background.
I've attached a screenshot to demonstrate the issue as well as console logs from the app.

--- Comment #3 from Chris Wales chris@chrobis.com 2009-07-25 08:11:59 --- Not to my knowledge - app hasn't worked for some time so this is the first time I've been able to run it at all, and see how the graphics are displaying.

--- Comment #5 from Chris Wales chris@chrobis.com 2009-07-25 11:42:47 --- D'oh! Data is:
OS: openSUSE 11.1, x86 Graphics card: NVidia GeForce FX 5200 (256MB) NVidia Driver: 173.14.18
Wine version: 1.1.26 Compiz/3D: Off
The game (and demo) include a file called "sfc.ini" in which one can change settings such as resolution, use of a z-buffer etc. Details of how to modify those are here:
http://gaming.trekcore.com/starfleetcommand/downloads/SupplementalManual.pdf
I've tried running the game at 800x600 (default), 1024x768 and 1280x1024 - in all cases, the same distortions appear.
The graphics hardware (and the rest of it!) is all much newer than than game itself, and easily surpasses the required specs at the time.
I've tried running the game under different modes (Win 98 upwards) - again, same results.
