When there are photos to import, collapsing and then expanding the 'All photos'
block makes all thumbnails but the first one disappear

What workarounds are you using? Have you tried native gdiplus?

Then a debug log with gdiplus channel would be appreciated so the exact
function could be taken care of.

I tried that with the demo already, and I wasn't able to find the relevant part
of the log. It's just going to require more time studying this program, I
think.
