In don't have any further data on this but my initial thoughts are that it's only in d3d the problem happens. I'm going to switch back to opengl for a time and see if the problem appears consistently in that mode. I'm gonna stick my neck out 7 say that I think it's probably a d3d problem only.
I do have the flicker patch installed (even though I don't need it as I'm using ATI) and the registry edit and the wgl_init patch.
I'll need to clean all this stuff out so I've got a standard 0.9.24 to makesure they don't contribute to the problem. (I don't think they do but you never know).
This may take the devs a while to track down, I played the game for about an hour last night before it hung.
