--- Comment #3 from Naveen naveepr@gmail.com 2013-09-06 06:51:25 CDT --- I am also experiencing a similar problem. After installing the office through the wine I am not able to run the same. It dumps and the dump file is shown below attached.
I am using the Wine profile as Windows 7 using msxml6 (builtin +native) and riched20 (builtin+native),gdiplus(builtin+native) dlls.

Any particular reason to set version to win7? Also why do you need native msxml6?

--- Comment #7 from Lectrode electrodexsnet@gmail.com --- If anyone is having this issue in the latest wine (1.7.17) like I was, it seems to be caused by Word failing to check for updates online. Word can be started without crashing as long as you are offline.
To prevent crashing without needing to disconnect every time, I did the following: -Disconnect PRIOR TO FIRST TIME RUNNING WORD -Run Word -When the "Welcome to Microsoft Office 2010" dialogue appears, select "Don't make changes" -Close Word -You should now be able to reconnect to the internet and start Word without it crashing
If you have already run Word and it has crashed, you will need to do the following (untested, but should work): -Disconnect from the Internet -Run Word -Click File > Options > Trust Center > Trust Center Settings > Privacy Options -Deselect "Connect to Office.com for updated content when I'm connected to the Internet." -Deselect "Download a file periodically that helps determine system problems" -Deselect "Sign up for the Customer Experience Improvement Program" -Click Ok, Ok, then close Word -You should now be able to reconnect to the internet and start Word without it crashing

--- Comment #8 from roger@mailinator.com --- We need backtrace so we could see what goes wrong. That needs to be done with up to date wine.
