Summary: Approach: Maximizing internalal minimized icon give "About Wine" Product: Wine Version: 1.1.20 Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P3 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: ToddAndMargo@verizon.net
Created an attachment (id=20742) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=20742) About wine instead of a maximized window
Hi All,
In Lotus Approach, if you use the internal windows control (the low set of caption buttons) to minimize a single database, it will appear as an icon in the lower right of Approach's window. If you double click on the icon to maximize the window again, you get "About Wine 1.1.20" (and no maximized window)
Many thanks, -T

Works fine here. You can also left-click on the icon and choose maximize from
the pop up menu. Does that also not work?
1) On a read/write database, right clicking on the icon does nothing
2) On a read/write database, a single left click pops up a context menu: move, size (grayed out), maximize, and About Wine. Double left clicking triggers "About Wine"
3) On a read only (544) database, either mouse click or clicks does nothing
Expected behavior:
a) double left click is maximize b) right click gives context menu. Maximize is bold (default)

Checked on real XP with your test db:
Right click -> nothing Left click -> popup menu left dbl click -> maximize
This is the same here as under wine (except the contents of the menu is a bit different). What I do see is that after a right click the mouse stays captured, and cannot be used anywhere in the program. Switching to another window and back again restores the mouse.

Right click -> nothing Left click -> popup menu left dbl click -> maximize
This is correct. I got my left and right mixed up.
I have attached a picture of what the icon should look like with the left click context menu popped up. You will notice that the icon is radically different under Wine.

--- Comment #6 from Rein Klazes wijn@online.nl 2009-05-02 01:28:40 --- OK, that is a bit different, but the menu in itself on wine is usable.
What worries me more is:
right click, followed by left click.
Here noting happens at all. Actually nothing (eg toolbar clicking )with the mouse works. I need to switch to some other window and back to approach to get mouse control again.
Please try.

Only if you can discipline yourself to use it differently than you have usee it for years in XP. What happens to me is that I bring up the Wine About, kill Wine About, right click on it, swear a tiny bit (this is not an admission that I swear), kill Approach, restart Approach, Minimize it, left click once on the icon, left click on Maximize, then I write you. So "usable" is in the eyes of the beholder. :-)

Reproduced it just as you stated in Wine. Double checked it in XP: unable to duplicate.

Hi Austin,
I am running 1.1.33. There is no symptom change. Is there any chance of getting this looked at in 1.1.34?

Wine is only supported up to 1.6.1 by the folks at EPEL (Extra Packages for Enterprise Linux). So I can not test under 1.7
No one ever worked on this bug. It would be nice after two years if it got some priority. Can you look into it?

Hi Austin,
I can confirm that this is no longer an issue in compiled
wine-patched-staging-1.7.51.tar.gz
But I can not confirm this in compiled
wine-1.7.51.tar.bz2
Do you have the facilities to test it?

Pure Wine is so stinkin' buggy and bugs are ignored for so many years that I have been forced to stopped using it. So is not really an issue for me as I only use Wine Staging. As long as it works in Wine Staging, I am happy. (Oh, a happy customer. How about that!)

He would also be the one to ask why the patch hasn't made it into the development branch, so cc'ing him.

The original issue was about maximizing minimized MDI childs. Everything else are separate issues, covered by different issues (or not). One bug report per problem!
Wine-Staging has nothing to do with this. After reading several bug reports from OP it seems that vanilla Wine was no longer used in later versions hence it's pointless to draw conclusions about patch(es) not being upstreamed (translation: there was none).
