Summary: 1by1 Player version 1.70 freezes. Product: Wine Version: 1.2 Platform: x86 URL: http://mpesch3.de1.cc/1by1.html OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: turbolad995@hotmail.co.uk
As per title, version 1.70 of 1by1 MP3 player freezes when you try playing an MP3 file. Simply drag and drop the MP3 file(s) into the player and it just freezes.
I've tried this on 2 computers with Wine and Ubuntu, one has Wine version 1.2 and the other has Wine version 1.1.42 and 1by1 Player freezes on both. You can get .ogg files to play with the relevant plug-in .dll file in the same folder as 1by1 and its other files (located in "Program Files"), but 1by1 player will freeze when you close it after playing .ogg files.
Every time 1by1 player freezes and you try closing it, you have to click "Force Quit".
I never had this problem with an older version of 1by1 Player running in Wine.

Hmm, this is a separate issue addressed by (http://source.winehq.org/patches/data/64632). How exactly do you perform the drag-and-drop operation (e.g. from where to where?) that would reproduce the problem? Your description doesn't seem sufficiently clear for me.

This is how I discovered the problem. I was using the latest version of 1by1 player (version 1.70) from their website: http://mpesch3.de1.cc/1by1.html
If you have mp3 files saved in your "Home" folder or any other place outside of the Wine "C" drive, drag and drop them into the 1by1 Player window. What should happen is 1by1 Player goes straight to the same folder as these mp3 files and create a playlist of these files, which you can then start playing.
Here's another way you can make the new 1by1 player freeze in Wine: download the .ogg plugin .dll file (I can't remember where I downloaded it, but it was in a zip file full of plugins for 1by1), place the ogg plugin .dll file into the same folder as 1by1 i.e. Wine "C" drive \Program Files\1by1 and start 1by1 Player. Drag and drop one or more .ogg files into 1by1 player. They will play, but 1by1 will freeze when you try closing it.
Earlier versions of 1by1 player never had these problems in Wine. I don't know where to find the older versions of 1by1, but they did work fine.
Hope that helps. I can only tell you what happens from how I use the program in Wine, as I'm not a programmer and not a Linux expert.

--- Comment #4 from David turbolad995@hotmail.co.uk 2010-09-11 07:57:03 CDT --- Can someone mark this bug as "confirmed"? This is a bug in Wine that can easily be reproduced using 1by1 Player version 1.70 in Wine.

--- Comment #6 from David turbolad995@hotmail.co.uk 2010-12-01 19:13:45 CST --- Try opening .mp3 files in 1by1 Player with Wine version 1.2 and later.
See if you can close 1by1 Player without any problems.
I can't get it to work and I'm using Wine version 1.3.8 - all I'm doing is dragging and dropping mp3 files into the player. It used to work, but since both Wine and 1by1 player have been updated regularly, 1by1 player no longer works in Wine.

--- Comment #9 from David turbolad995@hotmail.co.uk 2011-01-25 18:28:13 CST --- Go into 1by1 Player's settings by pressing <F6>. Select "default" as the "output device".
I can now play .ogg files using a plugin .dll, which you can find by searching the internet for 1by1 plugins.
But you CANNOT play mp3 files in 1by1 Player when running it via Wine. 1by1 player freezes when you try playing mp3 files, but not .ogg files - WITH THE OGG PLUGIN .DLL PLACED IN THE 1BY1 FOLDER - ALONG WITH ITS DEPENDENCIES in the Wine C: drive.
Try using something like SoundConvertor in Ubuntu to convert an audio file from one format to another e.g. mp3 to .ogg and so on, to test 1by1 player.
I can confirm that 1by1 player - using Wine - freezes when you try using it to play mp3 files. This bug needs to be confirmed. It's easy enough to confirm it by testing 1by1 player with mp3 files.

--- Comment #10 from David turbolad995@hotmail.co.uk 2011-03-26 16:03:38 CDT --- 1by1 appears to be working normally now, using Wine version 1.3.16 - but I would like others to test 1by1 Player with lots of different mp3 files, as I'm using the .ogg plugin to play OGG files and I have too few mp3 files to test it thoroughly before confirming this bug has been fixed (but the mp3 files I have do work in 1by1 now). So far, I've reported this bug and kept it updated from time to time, but I would like more people to test it.
The easiest way I found to test 1by1 in Wine is to drag and drop your mp3 file(s) onto the 1by1 player window.
This applies to 1by1 Player version 1.72 - if a newer version of 1by1 Player does not work properly with Wine, then I will create a new bug report.

Is 1by1 Player working for everyone else, when testing it in the latest version of Wine (version 1.3.16 right now)?
