this is a similar problem to firefox having no internet access, but unlike
firefox, i am unable to access about:config and prefs.js for modification to
try and get it working. they remain blank

Hi,

Could you provide exact downloadlink, and exact steps hoe you installed this?

I just tried this in current Staging and downloaded from
https://cdn.download.comodo.com/icedragon/icedragonsetup.exe
and the browser seems to work just fine/internet connection seems to be
ok;(cannot test vanilla wine atm as i have all Staging patches applied for now)

the version i’m using is 62.0 73mb available at:

https://icedragon.comodo.com/

the link which you provided is an older version 40.1.1.18 51mb.

I tried 40.1.1.18 the old version it is working but would like to continue with
62.0. can you help me test it out?

Well, the installer doesn`t even finish for me. It hangs... Did you see that as
well?

yes under wine stable it hangs

so i upgraded to wine experiemental and was able to get it running...but no
internet access

This works fine for me with (selfcompiled) wine-staging
(wine-4.3-339-g865d4c3c72 (Staging)
and on top of that Fabian`s patch from 
https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=63951&action=diff

Same issue as firefox (this is just a clone)

The installer had a crash but the app was installed anyway.
