steam + wine crash log

when logging in after verifying the account via code to email wine comes up
with an error saying the steam encountered a fatal error and needs to close.
this happens whether it is running under normal settings or wine steam -silent.
system is ubuntu 13.10 x64 graphics is amd radeon hd 6310. i know it sucks but
it runs skyrim and cod and others on medium/high. the crash is also apparent in
play on linux aswell but then again it does use wine lol.

Wine 1.7.8 already contains a fix for that, please give it a try.

First of all, PlayOnLinux is not supported here. Also you need to make sure
you're really using wine 1.7.8 and not something PoL uses. Attach crash log
please.

Aye I did not know about play on Linux I removed it and I was able to log in
however I have no text now lol.

Yeah, that's bug 31374. PoL mostly likely uses a workaround to make it work -
you could disable dwrite.dll in Libraries list with winecfg, or start Steam.exe
with -no-dwrite switch.

I read that one just now and tried to direct it to steam.exe -no-dwrite and the
output is wine: cannot find '/home/cxxxxxxxxxx90/.wine/C:/Program' lol. Fun
times.

I read that one just now and tried to direct it to steam.exe -no-dwrite and the
output is wine: cannot find '/home/cxxxxxxxxxx90/.wine/C:/Program' lol. Fun
times. And I can't find a steam cfg file or anything. Alternatively if I run
wine steam.exe -no-dwrite the output is that steam.exe is not in system 32.
