After installing Messenger 8.1, when you open the main window you only see a blue box. In the console you can see these three lines related to gdiplus.
fixme:gdiplus:GdipImageGetFrameCount not implemented fixme:gdiplus:GdipImageGetFrameDimensionsList not implemented fixme:gdiplus:GdipImageSelectActiveFrame not implemented
After install native gdiplus using winetricks the window will appear correctly.

I think that http://www.filehippo.com/download_msn_messenger/2166/ is the same thing, and it seems to draw correctly, although the stubs are still there. But I'd like to have someone who has seen the original failure confirm.
