I'm sorry, one comment says it's been solved, but I still got the issue on both Ubuntu Hardy's Wine (0.9.59) and Debian Lenny's version (1.0-rc1).
I checked the LXR, and no trace of the part of code which was proposed in the first post. I tried to compile a version with the "patch" from this post, and Runaway was running good ...
I think this bug have to be reopened, since it's not fixed :)
For the record, Ubuntu is running on an Intel 945G while Debian is using a nVidia 7800GS.
Hmm, Upgrading to Runaway 2 with 1.4 patch makest he game working without this patch. :)
