Summary: Biliardo 2 installer terminates on launch Product: Wine Version: CVS/GIT Platform: PC URL: http://web.tiscali.it/chiesi/software/ita/biliardo2.html OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: nodisgod@yahoo.com
Created an attachment (id=16125) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=16125) Biliardo 2 relay log (rzipped)
With current Git (wine-1.1.4-392-gaf78a7b), when attempting to launch the Biliardo 2 installer, a window momentarily appears, but the installer terminates without any further messages. From examination of relay traces, there seems to be an exception being raised while the installer runs, possibly causing the termination.

Actually it works.
I didn't have clean prefix. I had dotnet40 installed I think. I saw an error message something about that dotnet version mitchmatches (or something like that). After deleting .wine and running the installer I am unable to see such message.

-> " [-] Sometimes (very rare) installer displayed "Invalid character in the tag name" error message on start setup."
The 'Ghost installer' version the app is wrapped with is older and Wine triggers the error every time.
Spent some hours of debugging... The installer decrypts a database 'db.pdb' using a builtin key. Part of the key is derived at runtime from the file date/time of the encrypted database file (which is constant). The actual key incorrect (re)creation can't be seen in trace log (-> debugger).
The file date/time is set here:

--- Comment #14 from Anastasius Focht focht@gmx.net --- Hello folks,
this is fixed by commit https://source.winehq.org/git/wine.git/commitdiff/773b97bb2b0f4421d213b46633... ("ntdll: Fix converting large 32-bit time_t when time_t is signed.")
Thanks Erich and joaopa (for the reminder).
There is no hint in the commit message which app/bug was supposedly fixed by this. It could be a different app/bug as well.
