Summary: LTSPICE crashes some seconds after running a simulation Product: Wine Version: 1.2 Platform: x86 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: aaron.moore@alsatis.net
Created an attachment (id=31482) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=31482) LTSPICE IV crashes
I can open and edit Spice models and circuits without problem, but when I run a circuit simulation LTSPICE IV will crash after about 10 to 30 seconds.
The simulation actually works. I do see what I expect for some seconds.
It seems to crash faster with multiple simulation nodes but I have to say it is apparently random. Best I've seen is about 30 seconds, worst about 1 second.
attached the error message. Please direct me to suitable logs if you require them.

FYI the implementation of wine creates a directory called Program files ... with a space. I just wasted 20 minutes trying to figure out why i couldn't do this.
Not very smart
Anyway.. Now I have the file.. attached
thanks

--- Comment #5 from Nikolay Sivov bunglehead@gmail.com 2010-10-24 13:13:15 CDT --- You have native comctl32 installed in your .wine directory, why? Start from scratch with fresh and attach new log if it still crashes.

I installed wine 1.2 fresh today from the repository so you tell me why.
I am fully pissed off at the condescending nature of programmers.
I install wine fresh and you ask me why I installed something.
You tell me.

I don't care really.
I install wine fresh and you ask me why I installed something.
Ok, don't touch anything and attach +commctrl log (section 7.19 from http://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ).
Also it would be helpful if you specify a download location for this application and exact steps to reproduce, including sample files to use for that if needed.

log of crash LTSPice
FYI the implementation of wine creates a directory called Program files ... with a space.
Blame Microsoft for putting that space there. Wine has to do the same, or many programs will break.

--- Comment #9 from Aaron Moore aaron.moore@alsatis.net 2010-10-25 02:22:21 CDT --- It seems that one of the dlls was causing it, but I don't know which. I removed them all.
This is a problem because the dlls are used in another program I have running under wine. Unfortunately the program in question is not a general release SW and is used on a piece of industrial equipment. So it looks like I'll just have to live with it.

--- Comment #10 from Nikolay Sivov bunglehead@gmail.com 2010-10-25 03:14:31 CDT --- You could safely try. Rename your current .wine dir with your program that needs these dlls and try with a new .wine dir to install LTSPICE in it. Actually it's possible to use multiple .wine dirs if there's any application conflicts.
