What video card / driver version are you using?
Is "Selected mode is not supported by the video" the error message you get from the game?

Running in a virtual desktop does not help I Added a screenshot of the error box in the attachments
the required modes are in my xorg.conf file

So did you reconfigured your game as the message say? What mode have you selected? And what does 'xrandr' return?
