Please specify the Wine version you are using. It looks like you're not using the latest version, as the DDE progman behavior was improved in 1.2-rc4, and I have no problems installing the software, other than some DDE complaints from the installer.
The software must be executed with Windows 2000.
Why do you think this is the case? LINO.EXE launches successfully for me with winver=winxp.

Sorry, I'm quite new to Ubuntu (+ really fascinated with it), and just installed the latest stable release (1. something). I now got 1.2-rc7 and the setup works fine (except some Menu items which could not be created).

That's interesting. With real Windows (XP + Vista) it only works executing it with a Windows 2000 environment.
Thanks a lot and all the best for the future of WINE, that's really a fascinating project. It truly helps me to get rid of Windows Vista, which I did not miss for a second after a few days with Ubuntu..
