I was able to launch IBM SPSS Statistics successfully with
wine-9.7-31-gd07019e4d17 using the installer I downloaded after signing up for
a trial through the link
https://www.ibm.com/account/reg/us-en/signup?formid=urx-19774. I successfully
activated the 30-day trial in the SPSS application by logging into the account
I created and I was able to reach the "IBM SPSS Statistics Data Editor" window.

In my installation, the About dialog box in SPSS reports version string
"Version 29.0.2.0 (20)".

Please retest your version of IBM SPSS Statistics in a clean Wine prefix using
the latest available Wine development version. If you still have an issue with
the application hanging, please provide information about your version of SPSS
and how to reproduce the problem.
