Bug ID: 37396 Summary: MS Word 2010: Word doesn't save pdf file Product: Wine Version: 1.7.28 Hardware: x86 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: rounaksingh17@gmail.com Distribution: ---
Created attachment 49731 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=49731 Log file for: starting MS word2010, saving a file into pdf and exit.
Hi, I am trying to save a pdf file in MS-Word 2010. After clicking on "Publish" (save to a pdf)... A dialog box opens with a message that "file not found". And nothing saves.
I am using latest wine 1.7.28 latest branch... Also, I have tried this with wine 1.7.18 (same output). Moreover, I have set riched20.dll to native, and installed msxml6.0 (tried using cfg 'native, build-in' for msxml6.0).
Attaching log file.
I think the problem is because of some unimplemented function in msxml6.0 . Though I am not an expert.
Thanks. :)

I am trying to save a pdf file in MS-Word 2010. After clicking on "Publish" (save to a pdf)...
In my edition of Office 2010 the dialog for saving as a PDF does not have a "Publish" button; the button is marked "Save". The corresponding dialog in Office 2007 does say "Publish" on the button. Are you sure you are using Office 2010 and not Office 2007?
installed msxml6.0 (tried using cfg 'native, build-in' for msxml6.0).
Neither version of Office needs native msxml6. Please retest in a clean wineprefix.
I can't reproduce the problem in either Office 2007 or 2010. Tested in 1.7.33.

--- Comment #2 from Rounak Singh rounaksingh17@gmail.com --- Hi Rosanne,
In my edition of Office 2010 the dialog for saving as a PDF does not have a "Publish" button; the button is marked "Save". The corresponding dialog in Office 2007 does say "Publish" on the button. Are you sure you are using Office 2010 and not Office 2007?
Actually there are two or more ways to save a pdf on MS word. one method you did(Save As), other method is to open File>Save & Send>"Create PDF/XPS Document" under FileType. With this method, you will get same dialog box with a "Publish" button instead of "Save".
Neither version of Office needs native msxml6. Please retest in a clean wineprefix.
I can't reproduce the problem in either Office 2007 or 2010. Tested in 1.7.33.
I tried again with Wine1.7.33 and new wine prefix(No native dll). Re-installed Ms-Word 2010. Then tried to save a pdf. It saved. For normal setting, word is creating pdfs.
However, when I changed the "options" from dialog box of save pdf(where we put filename), it again says "File not found." Open File>Save As. Change the "save as type" to pdf. Click on Options: select ISO19005-1 (PDF/A) options and click OK. Then click on save or publish. There is the error.
I am sorry I should have given full details before. Actually I was doing random testing. So, I did not understand what happened when I posted the bug. But I know now.
There is one or two more bugs. 1)(I think related to this bug)Try sending a file as pdf. Go to File>Save & Send>Send using Email>Send as pdf. Same "File not found" dialog box appears.
2)(About this, I am not sure what happens when using Word on Windows, please confirm) clicking other "Send & Save" options like "send as attachment" opens Thunderbird compose message dialog box, but attaches nothing. shouldn't Word attach the file too??? (I think, in linux, you will need an email program on your computer. with signed on to some email account.)
Regards.

--- Comment #3 from Rounak Singh rounaksingh17@gmail.com --- For the last two points on the previous comment.
--Ignore the first one, it is surely related to this bug. All is happening because of PDF/A(ISO 19005-1) option.
--For second point, please confirm that Clicking on "send as attachment" under "Save & Send" does no attachment in email, when using Word on Windows OS.
Regards.

--- Comment #6 from Omer Tamir omer_tamir@fastmail.fm --- It seems that the "File not found" dialog box when exporting to PDF/A is due to a missing Image Color Matching (ICM) file.
Copying the file 'sRGB Color Space Profile.icm' from Windows 'C:\Windows\System32\spool\drivers\color' to Wine solves this issue.

--- Comment #7 from Rosanne DiMesio dimesio@earthlink.net --- That does work; the file can also be installed with winetricks.
Setting severity to minor since there's an easy workaround.

--- Comment #8 from Alex Henrie alexhenrie24@gmail.com --- Created attachment 68065 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=68065 WINEDEBUG=warn+file wine Aseprite.exe
The open-source sprite editor Asperite crashes on start without "C:\windows\system32\spool\drivers\color\sRGB Color Space Profile.icm". To reproduce, unzip the program and run `wine Aseprite.exe`. Console output with WINEDEBUG=warn+file is attached. `winetricks colorprofile` is a workaround.

--- Comment #9 from Alex Henrie alexhenrie24@gmail.com --- Rosanne, could you run the following command and let me know if PDF export in Word 2007 or 2010 starts working? If the sRGB color profile file from Color.org works for all affected applications then we can just bundle it with Wine.
curl http://www.color.org/profiles/sRGB2014.icc > "$HOME/.wine/drive_c/windows/system32/spool/drivers/color/sRGB Color Space Profile.icm"
(It doesn't matter whether or not you've already run `winetricks colorprofile` because the curl command will overwrite the file with the Color.org version if it exists. `winetricks -f colorprofile` will replace the file with the Microsoft version again.)

Works for both Office 2007 and Office 2010.
That's great, thank you! Could you also try embedding a colorful picture in the document to make sure that nothing strange happens to the colors after exporting to PDF?
