Summary: Sibelius 6 crash on startup after clean install Product: Wine Version: 1.3.18 Platform: All URL: http://www.sibelius.com OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: mabecabu@frontier.com
Created an attachment (id=34277) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=34277) Terminal output
After installing Sibelius 6 from the retail CD, it refuses to start, displaying the message: <quote> Error: 150021 (ERR_AUTH_REGTOOL_CANT_ACCESS_PIPE) </quote> And then states: <quote> There was a problem with file permissions. Are you logged in as an administrator? </quote> It then exits. Running Sibelius as root makes no difference.
Dsound and Visual C++ 2008 runtimes are installed and required for Sibelius 6 to run at all.

--- Comment #1 from Dmitry Timoshkov dmitry@codeweavers.com 2011-04-21 23:26:54 CDT --- There is no crash in the attached log. Does running the app from its own directory (as the FAQ tells you) make any difference?

No, no difference. Maybe crash was the wrong word, failure to start is more correct.

--- Comment #3 from marko.frank@web.de 2012-04-10 05:34:37 CDT --- Sibelius 6 starts and music scores can be created but registration fails.
During the starting process, Sibelius asks for the serial number. It is possible to type it in, but it gets not saved, so on the next program start, you have to type in the serial number again. After this step, there comes a window with the following error-message :
Error: 150021 (ERR_AUTH_REGTOOL_CANT_ACCESS_PIPE)
By clicking on the ok-button, the start continues but due to lack of registration, files cannot be safed.

--- Comment #4 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com --- This is your friendly reminder that there has been no bug activity for over a year. Is this still an issue in current (1.7.37 or newer) wine? If so, please attach the terminal output in 1.7.37 (see http://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ#get_log).
