aoe3 bundles a copy of d3dx9_25, and without it, most of the game is black.
You only see the problem if you try to run with builtin d3dx9, so
this only affects purists at the moment.

For me it runs with builtin d3dx9_25, just hideously slow.

(from dup:) If you mark d3dx9_25 as builtin only, the game renders all 
black (except for menus), and the log shows
