Bug ID: 39303 Summary: Cannot copy schematics between different windows / ltspice Product: Wine Version: 1.7.51 Hardware: x86 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: dieter.jurzitza@t-online.de Distribution: ---
Trying to copy parts or an entire schematic between two schematics in two windows from within ltspice does not work. I can easily select components to copy, I can copy them within one single schematic, but I cannot copy them between two different schematics in a single ltspice instance (what works without issues using plain windows, but who is using plain windows :-))
Thank you for looking into this, take care

--- Comment #1 from testelor@yahoo.com --- That is not possible, LTspice doesn't allow copying anything from one instance of LTspice to another, only from two schematics within the same instance (even then, with Wine, you need to tile the schematic windows, or similar, they must not be both maximized).
I can tell you for sure this is not the case since I worked with LTspice for more than 10 years. However, if that is not enough, you can go to the unofficial Yahoo!Groups, https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/ltspice/info, and search or ask there. You will see the same responses.
For the clearest of the answers, you could send a mail to the creator, Mike Engelhardt (see the address in Help > About), though I think he must have received a lot of similar questions.

--- Comment #2 from Dr. Ing. Dieter Jurzitza dieter.jurzitza@t-online.de --- This is not true. I can say "duplicate" in one ltspice - pane within windows, mark the corresponding elements, switch to the other window pane (containing a different schematic) and paste the duplicated structure by Strg - V. Try on your own, this works flawlessly in windows. Attempting to do the very same action within wine does actually not work for me, (same version of ltspice, of course!). This is the reason why I opened this bug. I am using the latest version of ltspice as available from the main download site.

Have you tried with my suggestion:
[...] only from two schematics within the same instance (even then, with Wine, you need to tile or cascade the schematic windows, or similar, they must not be both maximized).

--- Comment #4 from Dr. Ing. Dieter Jurzitza dieter.jurzitza@t-online.de --- I overread your hint - thank you very much, this is actually working - and moreover this helps me a lot. However, as I said, there are no comparable restrictions in windows, therefore I consider this a wine bug.
By the way, I had never said I wanted to copy schematics between different instances of ltspice, in contrast, I explicitly referenced to copying from within a single instance in my initial report.
Anyway, this is a bug - be it small or not - that I think would be worth fixing, as nobody expects such a behaviour.
Thanks again, take care

I suppose it can be regarded as such, but this is an old, known problem/solution. However, it may soon be irrelevant -- a new version of Lspice is brewing. (I am not affiliated with Linear)

That was my misunderstanding, it's a tie now. :-)
