Summary: Arx Fatalis locks up with a edited option on the config file Product: Wine Version: 1.3.11 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: i30817@gmail.com
This might be closed as not relevant but.
In a attempt to avoid the extreme slowness of arx fatalis on menus, i attempted to change the setting on its config file "cfg_default.ini" forcegdi to 0 instead of 1
This immediatly made the intro movie smoother, but locks up the game AND linux as soon as it reaches the menu. I searched on google and it seems that on windows it is possible to run it like this...
The game code was recently released as open source (GPLV3 i think). I can't avoid the lockup, it locks up my dual core computer completely so the only solution is to power cycle. I thought you might be interested in a bug that manages to lock up linux.
Here is the last patch and source code:

--- Comment #1 from Andrew Nguyen arethusa26@gmail.com 2011-01-14 21:04:35 CST --- If the game manages to freeze the system entirely, then the problem lies in kernel space and not Wine.

--- Comment #2 from paulo i30817@gmail.com 2011-01-14 21:57:33 CST --- So? Are you marking it invalid because you wont follow up or what? Do you expect the kernel devs to install a game and debug wine?

--- Comment #3 from joaopa jeremielapuree@yahoo.fr 2011-01-14 22:42:55 CST --- The bug is not in Wine but in a driver (surely in the driver in the graphic card). So it is not a problem for Wine developpers.
