Summary: Trillian (5.0.0.34) setup file crashes upon start. Product: Wine Version: 1.3.23 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: j.russell.moore@gmail.com
Created an attachment (id=35408) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=35408) Backtrace outputed when running the setup program via terminal.
I'm trying to install Trillian 5 but it crashes upon launching the installer. There were reports of it working with Wine 1.3.22 but I tried that version in my system and it didn't (which makes me think it may not be a fault in Wine but in its interaction with another thing).
Wine GIT as of 3th of July 2011 produces the same output. You may find as an attachment the backtrace it produces when running Wine from the console.
Please don't mind the winemenubuilder.exe error, it's displayed because I disabled it in the Wine configuration program.
The system I'm running is a 64-bit Arch Linux, with OpenSSL 1.0.0.d (relevant I think as the offending library is libcrypto).

--- Comment #1 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com 2011-07-03 13:36:53 CDT --- Works fine here with wine-1.3.23-160-g38c13e5 / OpenSSL 1.0.0d 8 Feb 2011

--- Comment #2 from James Russell j.russell.moore@gmail.com 2011-07-05 06:43:15 CDT --- I tried it again with Wine git, and recompiled OpenSSL in case that was it but the same output is generated.
Although it seems to work in a 32-bit environment (practically the same setup as the 64-bit I was using). May it be distribution related? What distribution are you using Austin? Could anyone else having a 64-bit Arch report?

That was on 32-bit gentoo.

Could anyone else having a 64-bit Arch report?
I'm also running 64-bit Arch Linux, and I have the same problem: the installer crashes on startup with output like you have attached in your first post. I've attached mine as well for completeness.
I suspect this is a problem with Arch rather than Wine.

--- Comment #7 from John Koelndorfer jkoelndorfer@gmail.com 2011-09-15 08:56:21 CDT --- I was able to get the Trillian installer to run by installing a native winhttp.dll. I copied this from a Windows 7 x86_64 system. One of the installer's pages came up blank, but the buttons showed up so I was able to get past it.
After the install finished, Trillian seems to be running fine.

Hopefully it won't hurt changing the component. Comment #5 confirms status=NEW (i could not reproduce in comment #4, but i'm running 32bit system).

As comment #6 says this is likely a problem with Arch Linux since the crash is in openssl:

--- Comment #10 from Juan Lang juan.lang@gmail.com 2011-12-03 14:13:11 CST --- That looks like the old Arch Linux bug, also described in bug 22316. Search for "wine ssleay_rand_add arch" and you'll find lots of apps affected by it. Invalid, since it's a distro problem.
