Since League of Legends Patch 10.13, and probably simultaneous Change of The Riot Client, the "Play" Button in the LoL Client (League Client != Riot Client) is Grayed out with the Message that the there are issues contacting "some league servers" and to contact Riot Support with error 9S, however under Windows on the same Region this issue does not exist.
Steps to Reproduce: Install League of Legends and Log In
The League Specific patches are not necessary to reproduce the bug since they are needed to load into game and this issue is already in client. The Bug is also Reproducable in Staging 5.10, however wine staging > 5.9 is currently known not to work with league: https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=49373
A temporary fix is the deletion of All Files Pertaining to the Riot Client (drive_c/Riot Games/Riot Client/*), however this does seems not to work for everyone and disables the friend list.

ran the debug on wine-5.6, removed all lines containing MSVCRT and msvcrt. Started League with wine start /UNIX prefix/drive_c/Riot\ Games/Riot\ Client/RiotClientServices.exe --launch-patchline=live --launch-product=league_of_legends

There is a workaround, if you disconnect your network connection (turn off adapter or pull cable) while logged in and wait for 3-4 minutes before reconnecting the Client Reconnection reenables the play button. Log attached, MSVCRT has been filtered...

From the discussion with them I didn't gain any additional insights on this
error (just doing reinstalls or Hextech Repair tool didn't fix anything).
The workaround juliansperling@gmail.com described, did work for me (wine 5.6 staging).

as methods seem to be working for some and not for others i figured i would find different ways of fixing this problem.
The fastest and most reliable one I have found so far is to simply delete the "system.yaml" file in the Riot Client folder.

Today, it didn't work or I didn't wait long enough. I ran into the "system.yaml trick". It didn't work for me, but doing a client repair and then restarting League of Legends worked for me.
Other things, I did before (that might have had an impact ?) : - I tried 2/3 client repairs before deleting both the "system.yaml" (no noticeable impact) - I changed for "League with wine start /UNIX prefix/drive_c/Riot\ Games/Riot\ Client/RiotClientServices.exe --launch-patchline=live --launch-product=league_of_legends" and kept it (even if I noticed no impact)
