--- Comment #1 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com --- Not critical. In the future, please test using stable/development wine (currently 7.0/7.12) and include a download link, if available.
Confirming, using Xerox GlobalView 2.1 (from https://winworldpc.com/product/xerox-globalview/21-for-windows):
$ sha256sum Xerox\ Globalview\ 2.1.7z 35363dc76e979a827d279531567234ff8831909b26ad650f0bd18f2535392e06 Xerox Globalview 2.1.7z
$ du -sh Xerox\ Globalview\ 2.1.7z 56M Xerox Globalview 2.1.7z
Accepting all defaults through the install, then running C:\GVWIN\GVWIN.EXE, I get the same error as OP (even after setting winver=win98 or winver=win31).
wine-7.12.

--- Comment #3 from Jeff Zaroyko jeffz@jeffz.name --- The old wine FAQ:
https://web.archive.org/web/20070223180620/http://www.winehq.org/site/docs/w...
The goal of Wine is to make it possible to run Windows applications on Unix, not Windows drivers or VxDs.
From the install destination:
$ file * | grep VxD DSD.386: MS-DOS executable, LE executable for MS Windows (VxD) EVD.386: MS-DOS executable, LE executable for MS Windows (VxD) IIF.386: MS-DOS executable, LE executable for MS Windows (VxD) TIM.386: MS-DOS executable, LE executable for MS Windows (VxD) WEMU387.386: MS-DOS executable, LE executable for MS Windows (VxD)

--- Comment #4 from Anthony Allen aa271828@earthlink.net --- Created attachment 72738 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=72738 got it to run on dosbox
I got it to run on dosbox 0.74 with win 3.1
